Marketplace and My Items
The Marketplace is a place to browse items made for Portals. My Items is your personal Building Items collection. They are connected, but they are not the same thing as a game scene.
The reliable path is:
- Find an item in the Marketplace.
- Add an eligible item to My Items.
- Choose the game where it should be available.
- Place and test it in Build mode.
Browse with a player need in mind
Start with the exact job you need to solve: a doorway prop, a texture for a wall, a short sound, a collection of forest details, or a clear sign.
When you open an item, check:
- the preview and description;
- the item type and whether it fits the current scene;
- whether its scale and style will work beside your existing assets;
- whether it offers the Add to My Items action.
Do not collect an item only because it looks good on its own. A useful item supports the place a player is actually going to explore.
Add an eligible item to My Items
Some Marketplace items can be added directly to your collection. For those items:
- Sign in and open the item detail view.
- Select Add to My Items.
- Wait for the confirmation that it was added.
- Open Building Items to find it later.
If the item does not show that action, use the options shown on its detail view instead. Do not assume every listing follows the same acquisition flow.
Use an item in a game
Adding an item to My Items does not automatically put it into every game. Use the game’s creator flow to make the item available where you plan to build, then:
- Open that game in Build mode.
- Find the item in the available items list.
- Place it near the player path where it has a clear job.
- Adjust its position, rotation, and scale.
- Walk the route from the intended spawn and confirm it works in context.
For example, a forest pack may contain several useful props, but you may only need one sign and two rocks for the first playable path. Start with the minimum that makes the route understandable.
Keep your collection useful
Use clear names, check previews before reusing assets, and remove or avoid items that no longer fit your project. A focused collection makes it much easier to find the right building material while you are in the middle of a game change.
