Discover and Play Games
The Play page is where you can browse Portals games and choose something to try. Use it like a player, not a builder: start with what catches your interest, then judge the experience by whether it explains itself once you enter.
Find a game that fits the moment
Before opening a game, use the title, thumbnail, and description to look for a clear answer to:
- What kind of experience is this?
- What will I do when I enter?
- Is it the kind of mood, challenge, or social space I want right now?
A useful game description sets expectations. It is okay to leave a game that is not what you expected; that feedback helps you choose more clearly next time.
Start with the first minute
When you open a game, give its first minute a fair test:
- Look around from the starting point.
- Find the first visible instruction, landmark, or route.
- Try the first interaction that is clearly offered.
- Notice whether the game tells you what success looks like.
If you are a creator playtesting another person’s game, avoid using your own building knowledge to fill in gaps. Your fresh reaction is the valuable part.
Give feedback someone can use
Helpful feedback describes a player moment:
I entered at the main spawn and could see the tower, but I did not know whether I should climb the stairs or use the portal beside it.
That is more actionable than “the start was confusing.” Include what you expected, what you saw, and what you tried next.
Explore respectfully
Each game can have different interaction and communication settings. Follow the expectations shown in the game, respect other players’ space, and use the available safety tools if you encounter harmful content or behavior.
See In-Game Social Tools and Safety and Reporting for those paths.
