Rifle
The Rifle is a gun pickup suited to a longer, clearer sightline. Place it from Tools > Guns, then tune it for the cover, encounter distance, and movement speed in your room.
Build a rifle test lane
- Place one Rifle and one target at the longest useful distance in your level.
- Tune maximum range and the damage change-over distances.
- Adjust fire rate and dispersion until shots feel predictable on that lane.
- Add cover and repeat the test from multiple positions.
- Set ammo and reload behavior only after the basic range feels right.
What to configure
The Rifle exposes the same major gun setting groups as the other provided gun types: damage and range, ammo, recoil and camera, UI, collection behavior, sound, and cosmetic presentation. The most important Rifle controls are usually range, dispersion, recoil, and reload time.
Use Can Collect By Collision for a pickup a player can walk over. Use Single Pickup only when that collection should be shared, then test it with two players so the expected ownership behavior is clear.
Player-facing test
- Can a player see the target before the intended combat distance?
- Does the Rifle remain useful without dominating close-range play?
- Do finite ammo and reload timing create the pacing you expect?
- Are crosshair and hit feedback enabled when your game needs them?
