Voice & Comms
Use Settings → Voice & Comms to choose how players hear one another and whether text chat is available. Test these settings with at least two players, because the difference between global and proximity voice changes the feel of a space immediately.
Voice controls
| Control | Range or state | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Global Speaking | On or off | On lets players hear one another across the whole space. Off uses proximity voice. |
| Voice Chat Range | 3–100 metres | Distance over which proximity voice can be heard. This control appears when Global Speaking is off. |
| Disable Text Chat | On or off | Turns off the space's text chat. |
Disable Text Chat is the same room-wide chat choice as Show Text Chat in UI, expressed with the opposite wording.
Choose the right voice mode
Use Global Speaking for a presentation, a single shared conversation, or a small activity where everyone should hear the same discussion. Turn it off for a social space, museum, or game where nearby conversation should matter, then set Voice Chat Range for the scale of the route.
Test checklist
- Join with two players at opposite ends of the space.
- Test both normal conversation and a busy area near other players.
- Walk beyond the chosen Voice Chat Range when proximity voice is on.
- Confirm text chat is available or unavailable as intended.
- Test with Music & Room Audio active so players can still understand one another.
