Build Your Game

Build player paths, place items, and configure the world with visual creator tools.

Light Source

Use Light Source for a local point of light, such as a lamp, doorway glow, or highlight around an important object. It complements the room-wide settings in Environment.

Add and tune a light

  1. Open Tools and choose Light Source.
  2. Place the light near the object or area it should illuminate.
  3. Select it and set its color, brightness, and range.
  4. Turn on Only night if it should appear only in the room's night state.
  5. Test from the player path, not just from the build view.

What the settings mean

  • Color changes the tint of the local light.
  • Brightness controls the light intensity.
  • Range controls how far from the light its effect reaches.
  • Only night keeps the light off during the day state.

Put a light slightly above the object it should reveal. A light at ground level can create harsh shadows or make its source hard to understand.

Example: guide a player to a portal

Place one light above a portal, use a color that contrasts with the wall, and set a range that reaches the approach path without lighting the whole room. Switch between Day and Night to make sure the portal is still clear.
