Change Voice Group
What it does
The current public version of this effect exposes one voice setting: whether the local player should still hear nearby players when the effect runs.
Despite its name, the public Tasks panel does not provide a field for choosing or naming arbitrary voice groups. Do not rely on this effect to create team channels or assign players to named groups.
Required item compatibility
Add it through a compatible item that shows this effect in its Tasks panel.
Setup
- Select the item that should perform the effect.
- Add Change Voice Group to the task state where it should run.
- Turn on Still Hear Nearby Players when nearby-player audio should remain available.
- Test with at least two people in the space.
Settings
| Setting | What it means |
|---|---|
| Still Hear Nearby Players | Keeps nearby-player audio available for the local player when this effect runs. |
Tiny example
An entry task enables Still Hear Nearby Players so a visitor can keep hearing people close by during that part of the experience.
Test and troubleshoot
- Test with multiple players. One person alone cannot verify proximity audio.
- Test both the enabled and disabled setting in the same kind of room and with the same player positions.
- Keep the experience understandable if voice chat is unavailable, muted, or declined by a player.
