Change Avatar Mood
What it does
Changes the facial expression of a compatible avatar-based NPC. It is useful for giving a guide, character, or scene partner a visible reaction.
The effect needs an NPC with a supported face-animation controller. It is not guaranteed to affect every imported or custom NPC asset.
Required item compatibility
Select an NPC whose Tasks panel offers Change Avatar Mood and whose avatar supports facial expressions.
Setup
- Select the NPC that should change expression.
- Add Change Avatar Mood to the desired task state.
- Choose an emotion.
- Test the complete state change with that exact NPC.
Settings
| Setting | What it means |
|---|---|
| Emotion | Choose Smile, Frown, Neutral, or Serious. |
Tiny example
After a player completes a challenge, the guide NPC changes to Smile while the completion message is shown.
Test and troubleshoot
- If the NPC does not visibly change, use an avatar-based NPC with supported face animation.
- Test every emotion on the final NPC asset; visual support can differ by asset.
- Test leaving the task state as well as entering it, so the rest of the scene returns to the expression you expect.
