Task Scheduler

What it does

Task Scheduler schedules a selected task transition. It can start from a chosen date and time, or begin its schedule when the current task fires, then repeat on the interval you choose.

Required item compatibility

Add it through a compatible item that shows this effect in its Tasks panel. The target task must already exist in the room.

Setup

  1. Add Task Scheduler to the state that should create the schedule.
  2. Select the task and the target state that should run later.
  3. Choose a date and 24-hour time, or enable Schedule Started On Trigger.
  4. Set the repeat count and interval.
  5. Test first with a short interval before using a long schedule.

Settings

Setting What it means
Target Task Task that will receive the scheduled transition.
Target State State the selected task should change to.
Select Date / Select Time Date and 24-hour time for a fixed schedule.
Schedule Started On Trigger Starts the schedule when this effect runs instead of at the fixed date and time.
Times Repeated Number of scheduled repeats.
Repeat / Every Interval amount and unit: Never, Minute, Hour, Day, or Week.

Tiny example

At the start of a round, Task Scheduler schedules Close Round to move to Completed once per minute for three test rounds.

Test and troubleshoot

  • Start with a short interval and one repeat before publishing a schedule.
  • Verify the selected task and target state; the scheduler changes that task, not the item that owns the effect.
  • Remove or replace an obsolete schedule when you no longer need it.
